The Firm's History

Gornitzky & Co. was founded by Advocate Israel Gornitzky in 1938.

During the mid 1940s, Israel’s sons, Yerucham and Uriel, qualified to practice law and were also called to the Bar as barristers in the United Kingdom. After being discharged from military service, Yerucham and Uriel Gornitzky joined the firm in the early 1950s.

Yerucham (Eric) Gornitzky managed the firm From the mid 1950s until the early 1990s. Under his leadership, the firm’s client base and number of attorneys grew and developed dramatically. Yerucham imbued in his partners, associates and staff, his special way of practicing law, acting in a professional, ethical and honorable manner while providing the highest level of legal service and advice to the firm’s clients, great or small. Yerucham's philosophy and values can still be found today in the Gornitzky code which is required to be adhered to by all Gornitzky attorneys and staff. Yerucham personally reqruited the firm’s attorneys, some of whom are today senior partners in the firm.

Yerucham Gornitzky passed away in 1997. The firm has honored him by dedicating its main conference room in his memory and by sponsoring a yearly legal conference. Today, the Gornitzky family is represented by Yerucham's daughter, Daphna Talgam, who is a partner in the firm.

In the 1960s, Partner Zvi Zohar and Partner Boaz Nahir, who are now retired, joined Gornitzky & Co. and began their long association with the firm.

Current Chairman Pinhas Rubin, Managing Partner Moriel Matalon, and Senior Partner Ariel Zelichov joined the firm in the 1970s/1980s and quickly became an integral part of the firm’s leadership.
